What you’re working towards

Keep recurring visual anchors while giving each image a distinct purpose. The worked result was written for this guide; it is not a recording of an AI run.

Make a start

One step at a time.

3 steps

Start with the synthetic worked example or other non-sensitive inputs. Run one prompt at a time in your chosen AI tool. Replace any bracketed placeholders with the requested material, check each reply, and supply the source or earlier outputs that step needs. Paste them again if the tool lacks that context.

Start with the synthetic example, then adapt each prompt to your task.

01

Open a text assistant and try the example

For a concrete starter route, open https://chatgpt.com and choose New chat. Sign in if that service requires it for your access. You can also use another text assistant you already have. Copy the entire prompt below (the instructions to paste), including the sample input, into its message box and send it. No upload or image generation is needed. Expect shared rules, three complete image prompts and a review checklist. The wording may differ from the example; the constraints should not. If it only explains the task, ask it to produce the finished result using the supplied input.

Your starting prompt
Write a text-only three-image series brief. Start with shared visual rules, then provide one complete prompt per image and a cross-series review checklist. The prompts must repeat the fixed anchors explicitly. Do not claim images were generated.

Use this complete made-up practice input:
Personal project: Three imaginary postcards titled “A Small Observatory.”
Shared anchors: One round stone observatory with a copper dome and a single square door; a short curved path entering from bottom left; two pine trees on the right; square 1:1 frame; flat cut-paper shapes with subtle grain; no letters or people.
Image 1: Dawn, pale peach sky, closed dome, long cool shadows.
Image 2: Noon, clear pale-blue sky, open dome, short shadows.
Image 3: Night, deep navy sky, open dome, one warm window glow; no moon.
Fixed architecture: The dome, door, path and two pines keep the same position and scale in all three.
Deliverable: Written prompts only; no requirement for an image tool account.

Return the finished result. Keep it fictional and do not add claims about real people, products or events.
02

Check, correct and save

Read the response beside the original input. Find the fixed anchors in every prompt. Check the dome is closed at dawn and open at noon and night. Confirm square framing throughout and no moon in the night prompt. If a check fails, paste the correction prompt below in the same conversation. Check the revised result yourself, then copy the version you want into your own notes or document.

Your starting prompt
Check your previous result against this original input:

Check these requirements one by one:
- Find the fixed anchors in every prompt.
- Check the dome is closed at dawn and open at noon and night.
- Confirm square framing throughout and no moon in the night prompt.
Quote each problem, explain the smallest repair, and return a complete corrected version. If there is no problem, say which checks you applied. Do not claim that your own review proves quality or audience response.

Optional: use your own material

Open a new chat. Copy the prompt below and replace [PASTE YOUR INPUT HERE] with three scene states and the subjects, composition, visual traits and exclusions that must stay fixed. Use material you own or may use and leave out private details. The output limits written in this prompt stay in force; change a limit here too if you want a different one. Send the whole message. Expect the same kind of written result with your new material. Check it against this new input and these limits, not the sample’s names or numbers. If it differs, describe the exact mismatch and ask for a complete correction before saving.

Your starting prompt
Make a text-only three-image series brief from my input below. Start with shared visual rules, then write one complete prompt per image, repeating the fixed features explicitly. Preserve what changes and what stays the same. Add a cross-series review checklist; do not claim images have been made or consistency tested.

If an essential detail is missing or two requirements conflict, ask me before filling the gap.

MY INPUT

Optional: improve the result

Make a series continuity sheet

Define what can vary before expanding the set. Keep the first version so you can compare the change. This extension uses the worked example. Return to that example chat, or paste its input and your checked example answer into a new chat first. Do not apply its sample values unchanged to your own input.

Advanced prompt
Create a two-column text list of fixed and variable features for this series. Then propose a fourth postcard at dusk using only allowed variations. Do not add new architecture, trees or text.
Use the original input and result in this conversation. If either is missing, ask me to paste it before continuing.
Show, then try

See the shape of the result.

This input is synthetic. The output is a written illustration of the intended result, not a verified AI-tool run.

The starting point

Synthetic input
Made-up example for practice. All people, places and events are invented.

Copies text only. For image or file tasks, use the source files named in the steps too.

The intended result

Illustrative output
Worked example written for this guide; it is not a recording of an AI run.

Shared visual rules:
Use the same square composition in all three postcards. A round stone observatory with copper dome and single square door stays in the center. A short curved path enters from bottom left; two pine trees stand on the right. Keep their position and scale fixed. Use flat cut-paper shapes with subtle grain. No lettering or people.

1. Dawn prompt:
Square 1:1 cut-paper-style illustration with subtle grain. Center a round stone observatory with a closed copper dome and single square door. A short curved path enters from bottom left; exactly two pine trees stand on the right. Pale peach dawn sky, long cool shadows. Keep architecture and object positions consistent with the series. No letters or people.

2. Noon prompt:
Square 1:1 cut-paper-style illustration with subtle grain. Center the same round stone observatory, now with its copper dome open, and single square door. The same short curved path enters from bottom left; exactly two pine trees remain on the right at the same scale. Clear pale-blue noon sky and short shadows. No letters or people.

3. Night prompt:
Square 1:1 cut-paper-style illustration with subtle grain. Center the same round stone observatory with its copper dome open and single square door. The same short curved path enters from bottom left; exactly two pine trees remain on the right at the same scale. Deep navy night sky and one warm window glow. No moon, letters or people.

Cross-series review for future images:
Compare the round building, door, dome, path and two trees side by side. Their placement and scale should match. Only time-of-day palette, shadows, dome state and the night window glow should change. Treat architecture drift or extra trees as corrections to request. This is a prompt plan, not a generated image series.

You’re the final check

Check the worked example.

These checks use the worked example and its particular facts. With your own material, check your actual names, numbers, sources and rules; do not reuse the sample’s values as the answer.

Unsaved checks stay in this tab and reset when you reload. If you choose Save guide, its current example checkmarks are kept in this browser when storage is available.

A few things to watch for.

  • Saying “same style” is weaker than repeating the actual anchors. State the important shared features in each prompt.
  • Consistent prompts alone do not guarantee consistent images. A later image workflow needs side-by-side visual review.
