What you’re working towards
A presentation-only localization pass with an exact value ledger and holds for ambiguous source formats. This is an authored practice example; no consumer AI run or real participant trial has been recorded.

Make a start
One step at a time.
2 steps
Start with the synthetic worked example or other non-sensitive inputs. Run one prompt at a time in your chosen AI tool. Replace any bracketed placeholders with the requested material, check each reply, and supply the source or earlier outputs that step needs. Paste them again if the tool lacks that context.
Start with the synthetic example, then adapt each prompt to your task.
01
Try the complete example
Open a new chat in a text AI assistant you already have permission to use. Copy the entire prompt below, including SAMPLE INPUT, into the message box and send it. No upload or special tool is needed. Expect a display-only rewrite with a value-by-value check and an unresolved date kept separate. Compare the result with Input; Output is a worked illustration, not text you need to paste. Read November 7, 2026 back as 7 November 2026, and 2:30 p.m. back as 14:30. GBP 12.50 and capacity 1,200 remain unchanged; the time zone stays unspecified. The separate 03/04/26 note remains unresolved, with no chosen date or century. If a detail differs, paste: “This part is wrong: [quote it]. My input says: [quote the exact source line or rule]. Return a complete corrected replacement and explain the change.” Recheck it yourself. If the source is missing or contradictory, leave that part unresolved and obtain the needed fact before using it.
Your starting prompt
Rewrite S1 using the supplied target display conventions. Return the full notice, a ledger of each original value and its display form, and a separate hold for S2 with a precise clarification question. Preserve values and the venue-local clock. Do not resolve the loose numeric date.
SAMPLE INPUT
Original synthetic practice input. The people, organizations, records and events below are fictional.
S1. English UK workshop notice: “Workshop: 7 November 2026, 14:30. Ticket: GBP 12.50. Capacity: 1,200.”
S2. A separate loose note says “03/04/26”. Its date order and century are not confirmed; the UK origin of S1 does not apply to S2.
Target convention for US readers: write the month name before the day, retain the full four-digit year, use a 12-hour clock with a.m./p.m., a period for decimals and a comma for thousands.
Preserve the exact day, clock time, currency identity, amount and capacity. Keep GBP, not a dollar symbol. The workshop time is a venue-local clock time; its time zone is not supplied. Do not convert time zones, currencies or units, translate prose or invent a time zone. Leave S2 unchanged in a separate hold note and ask for an unambiguous full date.
Return written text only. Keep this fictional and label illustrative dialogue as invented. Do not claim an actual interview, survey, learner trial or tool execution. Do not send, publish, collect responses or change another service.
02
Use your own input
Open a new chat. Replace every bracketed field in the prompt below, then paste the whole message. Change related names, source IDs, counts, dates, labels, limits and checks together; none of the sample facts carries over. Use only your own, authorized non-sensitive material. Expect the same kind of complete result using your inputs. Read each displayed value back into your original form. Verify every currency, unit, date and clock value; a target audience never supplies a missing source convention.
Change only the display conventions of my dates, times and numbers for the supplied audience. Return the full revised text and an original-to-display value ledger. Preserve currency/unit identity and the original clock zone. Apply only confirmed interpretation rules; hold ambiguous dates, separators, currencies or units and ask exact clarification questions. Do not convert currency, time zones or measurement units.
MY INPUT
Complete source text, with IDs and origin/locale for each source separately: [replace with complete non-sensitive details, or state unknown]
Target date, clock and number display conventions: [replace with complete non-sensitive details, or state unknown]
Currency and unit identities: [replace with complete non-sensitive details, or state unknown]
Confirmed date-order, century and separator meanings: [replace with complete non-sensitive details, or state unknown]
Values to preserve and ambiguous items to hold: [replace with complete non-sensitive details, or state unknown]
Use only MY INPUT for facts, names, dates, counts and constraints. Ask about essential missing information or conflicting rules instead of guessing. Do not import any practice-example values. Return the complete requested result, unresolved questions and checks tied to my input. Do not send, publish, collect responses, buy, book or change another service.
Optional: improve the result
Try a second explicit display convention
Keep the value ledger while changing only an explicitly supplied target style. This optional extension uses only the original synthetic sample. Return to the sample chat, or paste its complete Input into a new chat first. To use it with your own material, replace the source and every dependent rule, number and check explicitly.
Advanced prompt
For the original sample only, use YYYY-MM-DD dates, a 24-hour clock, no thousands separator and the existing decimal period. Return S1 as a full notice with its new ledger. Keep GBP and hold S2 unchanged. Expected checks: the confirmed date is 2026-11-07, time 14:30, amount GBP 12.50 and capacity 1200. Do not reinterpret 03/04/26.

01 / The starting point
Synthetic input

Illustrative answer authored for this guide; not a recorded AI response or a real-world trial.
Rewritten S1
Workshop: November 7, 2026, 2:30 p.m. Ticket: GBP 12.50. Capacity: 1,200.
Value ledger
- Date: 7 November 2026 → November 7, 2026. Both mean day 7, month 11, year 2026.
- Time: 14:30 → 2:30 p.m. Adding 12 to the afternoon hour gives 14; the minutes remain 30. This is the same venue-local clock time, not a conversion to a US time zone.
- Currency and amount: GBP 12.50 → GBP 12.50. Currency identity and amount are unchanged; no exchange rate is used.
- Capacity: 1,200 → 1,200. Both mean one thousand two hundred under the supplied conventions.
Hold S2
“03/04/26” remains unresolved and is not inserted as a workshop date. Ask: What full calendar date does this note mean? Please write the month name and four-digit year. Do not choose between March 4, April 3 or an assumed century.
Time-zone question, if people need an actual instant: Which venue time zone applies? The display change does not answer that question.
These checks use the worked example and its particular facts. With your own material, check your actual names, numbers, sources and rules; do not reuse the sample’s values as the answer.
Unsaved checks stay in this tab and reset when you reload. If you choose Save guide, its current example checkmarks are kept in this browser when storage is available.
!
A few things to watch for.
A document’s known locale does not establish the format of a separate unattributed note.
A 12-hour clock changes presentation, not the time zone. A currency symbol can silently change the meaning of an amount.
