Make an owner-review plan for notification categories with exceptions and unknown settings kept visible.

What you’re working towards

Make an owner-review plan for notification categories with exceptions and unknown settings kept visible. The worked result is a written example for practice; the AI steps have not been tested.

Make a start

One step at a time.

3 steps

Start with the synthetic worked example or other non-sensitive inputs. Run one prompt at a time in your chosen AI tool. Replace any bracketed placeholders with the requested material, check each reply, and supply the source or earlier outputs that step needs. Paste them again if the tool lacks that context.

Start with the synthetic example, then adapt each prompt to your task.

01

Open a chat and paste the example

Open https://chatgpt.com and choose New chat. Copy every line under Input in this guide into the message box. Then add the prompt below (the instructions telling the assistant what to do) and send both together. Expect a written response shaped like the example under Output. The wording may differ. If the assistant asks for information already in the input, point to that line; if a necessary fact is missing, keep it unknown rather than guessing.

Your starting prompt
Make a category-by-category owner-review plan from the made-up notification rules above. Preserve each exception and distinguish decisions from controls that may or may not exist. Include a fallback if a device cannot separate categories. Do not give unverified menu paths or change settings.
02

Check the specific result

Check all six categories. Close-contact direct messages and calendar alerts stay available, and delivery messages have the evening-delivery exception. The response must not claim a setting or scheduled summary has been enabled. Compare it with the Input yourself. If the response fails a check, paste the correction prompt below into the same chat. Recheck the corrected version before saving it.

Your starting prompt
Audit your plan against the six categories and exact owner rules. Restore any missing exception. Remove unverified menu instructions or claims of changed settings, and keep unsupported controls as questions.
03

Try it with your own example

Open a new chat. Copy the prompt below, then replace [PASTE YOUR INPUT HERE] with your own non-sensitive facts and rules. Include the kinds of details listed under Requirements. Send the whole message. Expect the same kind of result as this guide, using your values. Compare every name, number and rule with your input. If something differs, point to the exact mismatch and ask for a corrected complete answer. Save only a version you have checked.

Your starting prompt
Make an owner-review plan from my notification categories, preferences and exceptions below. Separate desired behavior from device controls that may not exist. Include a fallback where categories cannot be separated. Do not give unverified menu paths or change settings.

Use only the new input below. If a fact needed to finish is missing, ask me for it before choosing an answer.

MY INPUT
[PASTE YOUR INPUT HERE]
Optional: improve the result

Review the experiment after three evenings

Use your own observations to refine the plan rather than letting the assistant infer what distracted you. This extension uses the worked example. Return to that example chat, or paste its input and your checked example answer into a new chat first. Do not apply its sample values unchanged to your own input.

Advanced prompt
Create a blank three-evening log with Date, Wanted interruption received, Unwanted interruption received, Important item missed, and Owner’s proposed adjustment. Do not fill in any observed result or recommend a settings change without those observations.
Show, then try

See the shape of the result.

This input is synthetic. The output is a written illustration of the intended result, not a verified AI-tool run.

The starting point

Synthetic input
Made-up example for practice.

Made-up notification review for one adult. Goal: fewer interruptions during a daily 19:00–20:00 drawing hour. Categories: direct messages from chosen close contacts, delivery status messages, social likes, game streak prompts, calendar alerts, and news headlines. Owner rules: keep direct messages from chosen close contacts and calendar alerts available; delivery messages can wait until 20:00 unless I am actually expecting a delivery that evening; social likes, game streaks and news can be reviewed later. Device, apps and available controls are unspecified. Produce a review plan only; do not change settings or promise a specific feature exists.

Copies text only. For image or file tasks, use the source files named in the steps too.

The intended result

Illustrative output
Written example for practice; not a recorded AI response.

Review plan for 19:00–20:00
Keep available: chosen close contacts’ direct messages; calendar alerts.
Conditional: delivery status. On evenings with an expected delivery, keep it available; otherwise review after 20:00.
Review later: social likes, game streak prompts and news headlines.
Before changing anything: inspect whether your actual device and apps can distinguish these categories and chosen contacts. The input does not establish that they can.
If categories cannot be separated: do not switch off a whole channel that also carries the messages you want to keep. Ask the owner to choose a different approach.
At 20:00: manually check deferred categories if useful. No scheduled summary or device setting has been created.

You’re the final check

Check the worked example.

These checks use the worked example and its particular facts. With your own material, check your actual names, numbers, sources and rules; do not reuse the sample’s values as the answer.

Unsaved checks stay in this tab and reset when you reload. If you choose Save guide, its current example checkmarks are kept in this browser when storage is available.

A few things to watch for.

  • One app may carry both wanted and unwanted alerts. Review the available controls before choosing a broad block.
  • Do not provide real private message contents; category names are enough for this task.
